                                              The Moon in Vedic Astrology

Moon’s Yogas, Isolated, Conjunct Rahu, Ketu

The Moon is so important in Vedic astrology. It is a lunar based system because the dasha
system that gives the outline of when events are due to play out in our lives is based on
the Moon. Western astrology’s core is based on the Sun. Since the Moon rules our mind,
consciousness and especially how we feel it is imperative to study a chart from the Moon
as the ascendant. You will begin to discover how multi-faceted astrology is as we will look
at all the planets as the starting point. It is a hard concept to understand in the beginning so
let this slowly sink in as you go through all my concepts. Our lives are multi-dimensional,
and we have many layers in our psyches.

Now we are going to cover the depth of meaning of the Moon and you will understand why
               it is so very important.

               Isolated Moon

Since the Moon rules our feelings, it likes to feel connected to other planets, giving us a
feeling of connection to others. An isolated Moon is when the Moon is on one side of the
chart with no planets around it. If there are no planets in the sign/houses before or after the
               Moon it is considered isolated.

The Moon is the planet that is karaka (meaning indicator of) the mother. So, planets associ-
ated with the Moon can also give indications of the mother and her life experiences.

When the Moon is isolated the person feels alone, isolated without the support of others. A
sense of abandonment keeps one feeling alone at some point in life, particularly as a child,
               alienated by others.
The Moon is involved in many Yogas based on other planets surrounding or aspecting the
Moon. These are very important in understanding how a person feels throughout life.

When planets are in the 2 house/Sign from the Moon it is Sunapha yoga, which means gains
                                         nd
financially and connection to others. When planets are in the 12 house/sign from the Moon,
                                                                                th
Anapha yoga it pertains to release or letting go of things in life, and when there are both
planets 2 and 12 houses from the Moon, surrounding the Moon a person feels supported

and has a positive give and take in life, this is called Durudhara yoga. The Moon loves to
               be connected to other planets.

When natural benefics are in an angle (kendra) from the Moon it is also a very benefic ex-
perience for the Moon. When Jupiter is in houses 1,4,7 and 10 from the Moon it is called
