She smiles an acknowledgement. He comes over, studies her with new interest.

BOOTHBY
I was wondering when he’d get
around to you...
(off her confused look)
He’s romanced every other pretty
girl on campus...

DUFFY

Not me, thanks.

PICARD
Not my type. She gets air sick.

DUFFY
He’s losing his hair.
They grin at each other with genuine
affection.

PICARD
We’re too smart to let anything
ruin the perfect friendship.

Boothby looks at the two of them and for the first time he smiles, chuckles and
turns to Picard –

BOOTHBY
You’re not as smart as you think
you are.

Picard and Duffy smile... it isn’t as though they haven’t wondered what it might be
like to get together.
