The Question
“It’s not of your concern what I do; I am more
concerned about what you did in Nairobi. What
security company did you work for?”
Assir replied, “LL Security Services, and we were
both assigned to the Executive Services division. We
provided security for diplomats and commercial clients
in high-risk and complex environments. Many of our
clients were celebrities, people of wealth, and those
subject to physical attack or kidnapping.
King’s next question was, “How would you like to
work for David and me?”
They looked at one another in disbelief. Jaali asked,
“What is it you would like us to do?”
King replied, “The question was, do you want to
work for us or not? It is a simple yes or no answer.”
Jaali and Assir got up and walked across the massive
state room and huddled in one corner. They put their
arms around each other and heads touching, began a
discussion that lasted less than a minute. They were both
smiling as they were walking back to the sofa, and before
they even reached it, Jaali spoke up in a loud voice and
said, “Yes, we would love to work for you. You name it,
I’m sure that we are trained to take care of it.”
“That is exactly the answer I wanted to hear. Now,
I seal all my business with a handshake and a kiss.”
